Break a Sweat on Vacation.
We bet it’s happened to you. Looking at a hotel or a resort’s amenities and seeing “gym” listed as one of the perks of your stay. You click, look and then scroll away, thinking, ‘no way’ – there’s no way you would be dedicated enough to go to the gym on vacation!
But if you’re really working towards a goal, it is important to remain consistent – even if you’re spending the rest of your day sipping on margaritas poolside. Even taking one or two weeks off while you’re on holiday can have you falling out of your routine, making it harder to get back into it.
Plus, you just don’t burn as many calories as you usually do when you’re lying on the beach. So take that 30 minutes from your day of sunning and sipping and get a boost of endorphins. Here’s some other reasons to slip into a pair of Lulus and get some exercise in while on vacation.
1. Maintain your Progress. Studies show that a prolonged break from exercise can affect your health and lead to a decrease in muscle mass and an increase in cholesterol. Even if you can’t dedicate the time for a full workout, a short one can do the trick to keep you in fighting shape.
2. Try Something New. We know that a gym is the first thing most people think of when talking about working out, but there’s so many more options on vacation. If you’re tired of barbells and burpees, try out a vacation-specific activity like watersports, laps in the pool, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and more.
3. Skip the Post-Vacation Guilt. Studies show that most people feel guilty if they miss a workout – let alone two weeks of skipping an exercise routine. By incorporating a 20-30 minutes of activities each day, you can get that endorphin boost and avoid that feeling of regret when you return back to the real world.
Remaining active on vacation doesn’t have to be a drag. See what options are available during your stay and plan out fun excursions to make great memories and get your heart pumping. Your body will thank you for it!
